BURNINGFOLD HALL.
Heart of the Home .
By working closely with lighting designers, Lighting of London ensures that lighting enhances the design intent of a space while integrating seamlessly with the architecture and joinery. This kitchen project, delivered in collaboration with Todd Roberts Lighting, demonstrates how carefully selected fittings can bring attention to craftsmanship, materiality and detail.
THE BRIEF .
This project centred around a bespoke kitchen where the quality of the joinery and furniture was a defining feature of the design. The objective was to highlight these elements through light, creating visual interest and depth while maintaining a practical and comfortable environment for everyday use.
The lighting needed to draw attention to key details without dominating the space, supporting both the function and aesthetic of the kitchen.
Our Approach .
Working alongside Todd Roberts Lighting, we supplied a lighting solution that focused on the careful illumination of shelving, joinery details and bespoke furniture elements.
The scheme was designed to create subtle contrast and depth, helping to showcase the craftsmanship within the space while maintaining a clean and cohesive appearance.
A key consideration was ensuring that the luminaires integrated seamlessly with the joinery. To achieve this, custom finishes and discreet installation details were incorporated throughout the project.
The Products .
With its complete adjustable functionality, the Follow Me.R was used to provide accent lighting to highlight specific features and focal points. The client chose to have the fittings coated in bronze to match the hardware details, creating a more cohesive interior design.
A discreet uplight, the Profile.40 was used in key architectural features to highlight joinery details, integrated snugly within the bespoke kitchen cabinets. The custom coating allowed it to be more seamlessly integrated rather than the usual white finish.
Our Impact .
Using our background in lighting design, we knew we could create an atmosphere that would be a striking visual contrast to the traditional elegance of the surrounding rooms on this floor.
One of our key decisions was to work with the natural architecture of the room. The ceiling’s beautiful coving offered a subtle recess that became the perfect home for our lighting.
By integrating linear fixtures into this detail, we avoided the heaviness and visual clutter of a grid format. This choice not only preserved the ceiling’s craftsmanship but also made installation smooth and unobtrusive.
The OUTCOME .
The completed lighting scheme introduces a clean, contemporary layer to a traditionally designed home. The kitchen now feels bright, refined and cohesive, with lighting that enhances both the architecture and the interior finishes.
This project demonstrates how subtle integration and careful product selection can create a strong visual impact without compromising architectural detail.
